Mahila Congress Goa held a programme under the banner of 'Mahila and Dalit Utpidan Virodhi Diwas' here in Panaji. The event highlighted the issues being faced by womenfolk all around India.

The event was organized by Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho. "The event is in solidarity with all the women who are being harassed, be it the case of Kathua Rape Case, Hathras UP or anywhere in India women are being harassed and are deprived of their rights,” said Coutinho.

While speaking to media Coutino said, "The crime rate has been rising against the womenfolk. In UP Hathras case, the family was not even allowed to do final rights, the Dalit women are being harassed and humiliated and goons are threatening them day in and day out."

The atrocities and harassments on women have increased. Mahila Congress condemns all the victims of harassment and stands by with them in these tougher times, added Coutinho.

Meanwhile, Congress has called for a public meeting on November 7 at 4 pm at Madgaon Lohiya Maidan in support of people opposing the 3 controversial projects passing through Mollem.

"The government should listen to the people. We will oppose the projects," said Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar.

"Government should not play with the sentiment of people and should look for alternative land for IIT", added Rane.

He informed that there will be no display of party banners as it will a public meeting and appealed to all NGOs to participate in the meeting.
