Old Goa Police have arrested a 34-year-old maid from Karnataka but residing at Candolim on charges of burgling gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh from a flat in Mestabhat-Merces.
The burglary is reported to have taken place sometime before 6.30 pm on Tuesday and Sidney Mesir filed a police complaint in this regard. The accused Kashibai Nayak (34) was working as a maid in the flat.
The maid is alleged to have opened the cupboard and stole jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh. This incident came to the light later at night.
Acting on the police complaint, Old Goa police arrested the accused maid from Candolim and recovered the stolen jewellery from her. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Jasvita Naik.
