MARGAO
In a development that has raised eyebrows, the Maina Curtorim police has called Aam Admi Party state Convenor Rahul Mhambre for an inquiry in connection with Sunday's Nuvem incident.
The police has asked Mhambre to report at the Maina Curtorim police station on July 17 morning.
The police had on late Sunday registered an FIR against AAP leader Pratima Coutinho and 100 others fir violating section 144 of the Cr PC after a large number of party leaders and workers tried to march to the residence of Nuvem MLA Wilfred D'Sa to protest against the episode when party workers were roughed up while they had gone to the MLA'S house to hand over the anniversary cake.
Incidentally, party vice-president Pratima Coutinho had on Tuesday questioned the police for registering the FIR against her when the police knew about the names of others who had participated in the protest march.
Maina Curtorim police station in charge PI Shivram Vaingankar informed that the police has called Mhambre to the police station on Saturday for an inquiry to ascertain who was leading the party workers at Nuvem on Sunday. "The police want to know whether it was Pratima or Rahul who was leading the party workers and leaders at Nuvem on Sunday", he added.
