The Morjim panchayat has threatened action against cattle owners if their cattle are left free on roads and in open spaces in the village.
This message was conveyed the loudspeaker announcements in different parts of the village.
When contacted, Sarpanch Vaishali Shetgaonkar said motorists have been complaining about cattle blocking the road and hindering traffic.
"Besides, these cattle also damage crops in the village. The owners should tie them up in their respective sheds or appropriate action will be taken against them,” said Shetgaonkar.
Incidentally, the Morjim panchayat had taken a shed on rent basis at Varchawada seven years ago as a pound for cattle. However, not a single cattle has been placed in the pound as yet.
A worker was also appointed to handle stray cattle in the village.
