A day after Delhi Chief Minister wound up his two-day Goa visit to boost his Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shripad Naik, dismissed his promise of free power to domestic consumers up to 300 units, as not implementable and aimed at winning elections.
"They make announcements just for the sake of it. This is not possible. Once they allot the scheme to one per cent of the population, it falls through... People from Goa are not the ones to fall for these announcements," Naik said while speaking to journalists on Thursday.
On Wednesday, winding up his two-day visit to Goa, Kejriwal had announced that if AAP comes to power in the 2022 Assembly polls, 300 units of power supplied to homes will be free. In addition, he had said that it will guarantee uninterrupted supply, waive accumulated past bills and give free power to farmers.
Naik, however, said that it was not practical in terms of governance.
"It is just not possible. At the most, a government may consider concessions. This has already failed in Delhi. These are hollow announcements aimed at winning elections only," he added.
