Majorda p’yat meet deliberates on issues plaguing village
A marathon four-hour long meeting of the Majorda panchayat held on Friday has decided to address a host of issues facing the village, including garbage collection and disposal, besides roads.

the goan I networkrMARGAOrrThe first meeting chaired by newly-elected Sarpanch Agnelo Pereira discussed at length various issues, including garbage management.rThe sarpanch informed that the meeting took stock of the waste management in place in the village and the need to streamline the existing system. Majorda had initiated door-to-door collection of dry waste in the past and the present body has decided to streamline the waste rmanagement.rThe meeting also discussed the condition of the roads and the need to take up the issue with the PWD.rLocal Nuvem Sarpanch Wilfred D’Sa, who was invited for the meeting, expressed rhis full support and assistance to the Majorda panchayat, rto take up developmental ractivities.
Tomorrow’s election for the two OBC reserved wards of Betalbatim and the lone Kirbhat ward of Nuvem may not appear significant in the scheme of things. But, counting of ballots for these two panchayat bodies on Sunday holds immense significance for arch political rivals “ Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa and his predecessor Mickky Pacheco “ as the results will not only indicate their support base on their home turf, but whether they have made inroads in each others territories.
