Sattari Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas has voiced displeasure over the poor response to the vaccination drive in Sattari and has now asked schools to promote the drive among parents of children below 15 years to ensure a 100% response in the taluka.
He was addressing a meeting for headmasters of government and private schools in Sattari taluka in the presence of officials of Valpoi Community Health Centre at the Valpoi Municipal Council hall on Monday.
Gawas said about 14,000 people have so far been vaccinated in Sattari taluka but this number had been unsatisfactory.
The mamlatdar said a new campaign will be launched on Wednesday to make the vaccination campaign more successful and all parents with children below 15 years of age will be involved in this drive.
He has directed all schools in the taluka, including headmaster, teachers and PTAs, to create awareness about the vaccination campaign at the taluka level.
According to sources, the vaccination drive has received poor response in Sattari and this has alarmed taluka authorities, who are making concerted efforts to get more people to get themselves vaccinated.
As part of this drive, parents of children below the 15 years will be given priority in the vaccination campaign from Wednesday.
Valpoi CHC Health Officer Dr Shyam Kankonkar and Dr Abhijeet Wadkar also addressed the headmasters at the meeting.
