A middle-aged man is cooling his heels in the Margao police station lockup after he posed naked in the Margao Municipal Council building on Wednesday noon.
The man, wearing a lungi and a turban, entered the taxation section of the building during lunch break. Demanding money from the skeletal staff in the taxation section, the accused took a round of the section before taking to the passage.
After he found some employees filming his presence in the municipal taxation section, the accused lifted his lungi to show his private parts before making good his escape.
After the matter was brought to the notice of the Margao police, the men-in-uniform launched a hunt before the man was traced on the Margao Station road. He was later arrested by the police and placed behind bars.
Questions are being raised in the corridors of the civic body about how the person made his entry into the MMC taxation section when the building is manned by security personnel.
Margao police was also criticised for its inaction to round up such persons, who go around the city asking for money, especially from motorists. “These persons have become a nuisance for citizens and motorists in the city. Hope the Margao police treats today’s incident as an eye opener and rounds up such elements,” remarked a Margao civic official.
