PERNEM: A man hailing from Kerala but residing at Morjim was arrested on charges of possessing drugs worth Rs 5 lakh at Arambol on Tuesday night.
According to reports, a Mandrem police team led by PSI Jaydeep Palyekar along with two Panchas, acting on specific information, conducted a narcotic raid at the Arambol Fish Market between 8 pm and 10.30 pm and caught Afsal Puthiyaveettil (33) for allegedly being in illegal possession of a substance suspected to be hydroponic weed (ganja) weighing 49.78 grams and valued at Rs 5 lakh. The accused was arrested under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act-1985 later at night. Police have intimated family members of his arrest and Mandrem LPSI Archana Sharma is conducting further investigation into the case.
