Officials inspect Canacona Bypass

Officials inspect Canacona Bypass
A PWD (Highways) official and CMC Councillor Shubham Komarpant inspect the Canacona Bypass.

CANACONA

Following complaints of poor maintenance of the four-lane Canacona Bypass road, PWD engineers conducted a joint inspection of the bypass on Wednesday. PWD Div XIV (Highways) Executive Engineer Pritesh Naik, Assistant Engineer Sagar Shet and Junior Engineer Koustubh Dessai conducted a joint inspection along with CMC Councillor Shubham Komarpant.

According to Komarpant, who had complained in March about the threat to life due to mismanagement of the bypass in Canacona, Naik and Shet assured him that all issues raised during the inspection would be resolved. “It is also the need of the hour, as the condition of the road is deteriorating day by day and every issue raised has worsened since March,” informed Komarpant.

In his complaint, Komarpant had alleged growth of shrubs on the divider, rusted iron railings on bridges which were falling apart, improper bridge expansion joints, non-functioning street lights, no proper signboards and an undulating (uneven) road leading to accidents.
