MAPUSA

A man was arrested on charges of injuring his wife over her refusal to serve him food at their home in Chandanwadi-Bastora in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to reports, Reshma Sutar had returned home after watching a play at the Jatrotsava in Bastora and was asleep.

Her husband, Shriram (53), reached home drunk sometime between 2:30 am and 3:30 am and asked her to serve him food.

The wife refused to do so and asked him to serve himself. Shriram flew into a rage and abused her before punching her in the eye, injuring her.

The police were later notified, and the wife was taken to the Mapusa district hospital, from where she was referred to the GMC hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

The police later arrested Shriram under Section 325 IPC, and he was sent to the Colvale jail. Further investigations are in progress.
