Mandopa Boys clinch top honours at State crib competition 2025

The Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, has declared the results of the State-level Crib Competition 2025, organised from December 26 to 31, as part of efforts to promote and preserve Goa’s age-old Christmas crib-making tradition. The competition was held in two categories”Institution/Group and Individual/Household”and witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the State. A total of 25 groups competed in the Institution/Group category, while 55 participants took part in the Individual/Household category. The entries were judged by a three-member jury comprising Sonia Rodrigues Sabarwal, Febiano Gonsalves and Sandesh Sonu Naik.

In the Institution/Group category, Mandopa Boys of Copela Vaddo, Navelim, Salcete, secured first prize of Rs 40,000, followed by Tolpam Khuris Sports and Cultural Club, Dicarpali, Navelim, which won second prize of Rs 35,000. Creative Boys of Fonsa Baatt, Vaddy, Merces, bagged third prize of Rs 30,000, while Zone 9 of Sarzora, Chinchinim, Salcete, won fourth prize of Rs 25,000. The fifth prize of Rs 20,000 went to ‘The Nativity Crew’ of Holy Spirit Church, Fatorda“Margao. Five consolation prizes of Rs 15,000 each were awarded to Holy Cross Boys, Khamamol“Curchorem; Cross Boys of Carmona; St Joseph Parish Youth, Dramapur; Holy Cross Universal Group, Usgao Khandepar; and Parish Youth of St Anne Church, Agonda, Canacona.

In the Individual/Household category, Armstrong P de Menzes of Aquem Baixo, Navelim, won the first prize of Rs 25,000. Minguel Fernandes and Sons of St Cruz, Ponda, secured second prize of Rs 20,000, while Richard C Caldeira of Santa Cruz, Ponda, won third prize of Rs 15,000. The fourth prize of Rs 12,000 went to Amroy Viegas of Taleigao, and the fifth prize of Rs 10,000 was won by Ladisau A Roncon of Campal, Panaji. Five consolation prizes of Rs 7,000 each were awarded to Darric Dias, Sanio Jovin Noronha, Alex Silveira, Xavier Fernandes and Duane Angelo Pereira. The date of the prize distribution ceremony will be announced later.
