Mandur VP seeks PWD’s help to clear choked drain at Tinto junction

OLD GOA

The Mandur panchayat has sought help from the PWD to open and repair the blocked cross drain at the Tinto junction. Due to the blockage, rainwater does not flow smoothly, resulting in flooding of the nearby areas during heavy rains.

Speaking to The Goan, Sarpanch Prashant Naik informed that every time the problem occurs, he employs labourers to try and unclog the drain with the help of bamboos. “But the drain is clogged right in the middle, and it is difficult to clear it as this is a main road. There is heavy traffic throughout the day on the road, as travellers proceeding from Pilar to Old Goa and vice versa use this road,” Naik said, adding that only the PWD can properly open and repair the drain.

He further stated that when the PWD undertakes the work, a traffic management plan must be in place, as traffic along the route will be affected and there is no alternate route to divert it.
