Manipuri gets 10 years RI for killing his employer

Banner Kishing (25), a native of Manipur, was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for killing his employer, one Chongamala Zimik (37), also a native of Manipur, in January 2015.

However, as the offence against Section 302 could not established against the accused in the court, the accused was held guilty for offence under Sections 304 and 201. rWhile the accused was convicted to undergo imprisonment for 10 years of offence committed under Section 304, he was also handed over a sentence to undergo imprisonment for 1 year under Section 201. Both the sentences will run concurrently. rThe Investigation Officer in this case, former Margao PI Sudesh Naik had filed the chargesheet. The prosecution’s case was argued by Adv Jerry D’Costa which finally led to the conviction. Many witnesses were also examined.rIt may be recalled that the deceased had married a Goan and was residing in Fatorda. The couple was blessed with a child after which the deceased had requisitioned the service of the accused, one Benner Kishing (25), who also hailed from Manipur, for domestic help. rThe motive behind the murder was attributed to the extreme pressure of domestic work entrusted to the accused. He had subsequently murdered the deceased in cold blood in a fit of anger.

Sanguem MLA inspects some wards over sanitation issues
