Many oppn parties ready to join NDA before LS polls: Shripad

MAPUSA
Union Minister of State for Tourism, Shripad Naik on Friday said people and political leaders have tremendous confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and therefore that there is possibility of many opposition parties joining the NDA bloc before the Parliamentary elections.

Naik also said that the coming together of the opposition parties under the banner of INDIA will have no impact on the BJP prospects in the 2024 national elections.

“Several opposition parties which are now with INDIA are ready to join the BJP-led NDA before the parliamentary elections. We don’t have to break the opposition parties. They are impressed with the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and want to join us,” Naik said, while addressing the media in Mapusa.

The Union Minister for State was reacting to The Goan query whether more NCP type coup in Maharashtra was in the offing across the country. Naik said there was no possibility of early elections and the Lok Sabha elections will be held on time in April-May 2024.

Slamming the opposition for disrupting the just ended parliament session, he said even after being in power for 60 years, the Congress has acted immaturely while discharging its duty in the House.

“The Congress constantly created chaos in the Parliament disrupting the proceedings and wasting precious time. They resorted to dadagiri on the Manipur issue. The Speaker had assured to hold discussion on Manipur but they insisted on PM to speak,” he said.

He said there was an attempt to revive the extremism in Manipur but the Centre has been handling the issue very sensitively.
