A proposal to install traffic signals as a temporary solution has been mooted following a joint inspection of the junction on NH-66 at Peddem in Mapusa following a joint inspection of the area on Thursday by Mapusa MLA Joshua D'Souza and Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira.
D'Souza, who is also vice-chairman of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, said that the proposal is to install signals only temporarily until a concrete, more long-term solution can be worked out to ensure safety and smooth travel across the highway.
PWD Executive Engineer (Roads and Highways) Atmaram Gawade attended the inspection.
Alvares said he has suggested that whatever long-term solution is worked out be implemented through the GSIDC as executing it through the national highways authority will consume time for the tendering process as well as sanctions.
