The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has earned Rs 15 lakh from Sopo and garbage tax from the Bodgeshwar fair in the city. This year, the MMC collected Sopo and garbage tax from over 600 stalls during the 13-day fair. There was also an amusement park with various rides and games.
During this fair, the MMC had fixed the Sopo rate for shops at Rs 800 per running metre and this included garbage tax. “This year, our employees have collected a revenue of Rs 15 lakh from the Bodgeshwar fair, in comparison to Rs 11 lakh collected during the fair last year,” said MMC Chairperson Priya Mishal.
