Although traffic personnel mostly focused on creating awareness among the motorists and pedestrians, at least 29 persons were booked for crossing the mandatory zebra crossing line.
“Since it’s just the first day, we have concentrated on making motorists aware about the pedestrian’s right of way on roads,” said Tushar Vernekar, Mapusa PI, Traffic.
He said his department has impressed on the officials of the Mapusa Municipal Council the necessity to paint the zebra crossing at crucial junctions in the city.
“We hope the municipal council officials get their act together and carry out the paintings on key junctions at the earliest,” he added.
Goa Traffic Police began its special drive from Wednesday at major junctions with zebra crossings identified in five major towns across the State, including Mapusa.
