Aam Aadmi Party’s Mapusa unit has condemned the BJP government, and their Mapusa MLA in particular, for the complete failure in solving the city’s power outage even after four days.
Mapusa resident and State Convenor Rahul Mhambre said BJP made tall promises to Mhapsekars to get their votes, but instead only fooled them into accepting Parivar Raj and an incompetent dynast as their MLA.
“It has been more than 100 hours that we Mhapsekars are in the dark without power. Is this the development that was promised by the BJP during the election? It feels like Mapusa has been taken back to the Stone Age,” Mhambre fumed.
Mhambre castigated MLA Joshua D'souza, the son of former MLA late Francis D'souza, for his complete absence and apathy again during this crisis, accusing Joshua of having no concern for the woes of the common man as his bungalow is powered by a generator.
“Local businesses have suffered losses. People are reeling from a shortage of water, forced to carry buckets up to their flats. Children and senior citizens have been affected in particular. Mapusa is in chaos, but Prince Joshua is merrily living in his castle on top of the hill after being handed his father’s Mapusa seat by the BJP like an inheritance”, Mhambre mocked.
Mhambre reminded Joshua of his own promise of June 2019, that “power woes of Mapusa will soon be a thing of the past”. Mhambre demanded to know what had happened to the Rs 131 crore that Joshua had announced for underground cabling of electricity lines in Mapusa two years ago.
Mhambre said that Aam Aadmi Party appreciates the tireless efforts made by Electricity Department all over Goa to restore connections with the available tools. He blamed the Power Ministry and the State government for failing to provide the staff with the equipment and upgrades that they need.
Mhambre informed that the party’s Mapusa unit provided linesmen with food packets yesterday as well as today, as they were working long hours with no break or any kind of support from the government.
