Goa State Industrial Development Corporation (GSIDC) Vice Chairman and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza and Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Ryan Braganza launched the BJP membership drive by signing the enrollment register in Mapusa on Saturday.

Speaking at the drive’s launch in the presence of the karyakartas and councillors, D’Souza said people of Mapusa have been electing BJP for the last four terms and the task of enrolling 12,000 members wasn’t difficult to achieve. “People have a habit to elect BJP in Mapusa. It won’t be difficult to achieve the target since Mapusa has been stronghold of BJP,” D’Souza said.

Earlier, BJP’s North Goa Vice President and in charge of membership drive in Mapusa, Rajsingh Rane said that Mapusa was given to a target of enrolling 12,000 members.

He said the membership drive in Mapusa is renewed after every six years.

“Last time we had around 9,500 members and this time we are going to target new members during the drive,” Rane said.

He informed the gathering of BJP karyakartas to take up the drive with a missionary zeal to enroll more members in the city.

The BJP launched its mammoth membership drive in the country with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching the drive in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

The Mapusa BJP Mandal General Secretary Akhil Parrikar, Rupesh Kamat and several other mandal office bearers were present for the meeting.
