The nomination process for the civic election of Mapusa has been discontinued and the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has also been lifted.
The Returning Officer for the Mapusa Municipal Council elections, Mamu Hage informed that the election to the MMC has been kept in abeyance till further notice.
“The previous notification declaring the election to be held on March 20 has been revoked. The election is kept in abeyance till further notice and the MCC has been lifted,” Hage said and added that the State Election Commission will now announce the new schedule.
Hage also said she was awaiting further instructions from senior officials on the nominations that were filed two days ago.
Four people had already filed their nominations in Mapusa “ two in ward 7 and one each for ward 2 and 15.
