MARGAO
Trinamool Congress Party Margao candidate Mahesh Amonkar on Monday offered the sacred coconut to Lord Dambab at the Pimpalkatta, with the candidate making a fervent plea to Madgavkars to vote and elect a new and young face in the coming polls.
Saying that TMC chief Mamata Didi has reposed trust and faith by nominating him for the Margao seat, Mahesh said expressed confidence that all sections of the electorate, including the Bahujan Samaj will stand by him and send him to the Assembly.
Taking potshots at the Opposition leader Digambar Kamat, Mahesh sought to know why should Madgavkars give another term for Digambar Kamat when he has failed to serve the city during the last 28 years.
He promised to resolve the burning issue of parking, burial grounds for the Muslim community, restore the Margao Municipal garden to its pristine glory and usher in the development of the city as per the needs of the citizens.
Former Margao Municipal Chairperson Johnson Fernandes appealed to the people to vote for a change saying the city has not seen any major development in the last 27 years.
Andrew Sequeira said there’s not even a place for a playground for the youth of Margao, saying attempts are underway to get a mega project on the Costa ground.
“The Margao MLA should tell Madgavkars what he has done for the city in the last 27 years”, he said.
