Margao CO admits MMC showed no hurry in CCTV matter

MARGAO
Margao Municipal Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has conceded that the Civic body was not quick in getting the defunct CCTV cameras repaired and revived on priority.

He, however, hastened to add that the new municipal engineer Manoj Arsekar has been asked to expedite the payment of bills of the contractor so that the CCTV cameras are back in operation.

“The process of payment to the contractor did not move as fast as was expected. But, things will fall in place in the coming days,” he said.

On the proposal to get the entire city covered under CCTV surveillance cameras, the Chief Officer said the civic body has received a proposal from a party and the same was deliberated at the council meeting.

“Once the minutes of the meeting are finalised, a proposal will be submitted to the District Collector, South, who is the nodal officer under the MPLAD scheme, to implement it through the MPLAD funds of the MPs,” Agnelo added.
