The Departmental Promotion Committee of the Margao Municipal Council met on Tuesday, raising hopes that many an employee and worker may finally get the long-awaited promotion.
The DPC which was held in camera in the municipality was attended by the Additional Director of Municipal Administration and MMC Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai.
Sources in the know informed that the DPC has cleared the candidates for the post of LDCs, a market inspector, drivers and workers among others. While the names of the short-listed candidates have been kept a closely guarded secret, sources said the decision of the DPC will be given effect very soon.
Sources told The Goan that employees and workers have been looking forward to the municipality holding the DPC, but to also revive the dozens of posts that have lapsed over the years. Employees, who had missed on promotions, have also been demanding revised pay as per the rules in force, but in vain.
