Days after his lawyer son was booked for stalking his female colleague, prominent lawyer Advocate Jayant Prabhu committed suicide this morning.
The lawyer's suicide note has sparked outrage among the fraternity as it accused LPSI Anushka Parab and an unknown constable at the Margao police station of alleged harassment.
Earlier this week, the Margao police booked his son for sexually harassing and stalking a female lawyer and sent him to IPHB for treatment.
Law Minister Alexio Sequeira has assured a thorough investigation into allegations levelled by Adv Jayant in his suicide note.
"The government will inquire into the matter," Sequeira stated.
The Margao Bar Association has demanded an FIR against LPSI Parab and a constable named in the suicide note. The bar has also voiced concerns over the alleged misconduct by the police officers.
The deceased lawyer has also left behind instructions for the division of his estate.
