Tiatr lovers have good news in store for them as the air-conditioning issue plaguing the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao stands finally resolved with Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude on Friday inaugurating a new 60-ton chiller at the complex.
That’s not all. The Minister said that Ravindra Bhavan has proposed an additional chiller which will help tide over future problems plaguing the cultural institution. He has further promised to resolve all issues affecting Margao Ravindra Bhavan.
Inaugurated in the year 2009, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao initially installed 3 AC chillers having a capacity of 60-TR each. Member Secretary Agnelo Fernandes said the air-conditioning facility was running on two chillers in functional capacity from the year 2018 as one of the reciprocating chillers units got damaged beyond repairs.
“After complying with the codal formalities through PWD for new chiller of 60-TR capacity amounting to Rs 23.56 lakh, a tender was floated five times. “Only at the 6th time, we got a single tender received from M/S Escube from Vasco da Gama. Finally after getting the final approval work order was issued to M/s Escube on 15/7/2022,” he said.
The Member Secretary pointed out that out of the two running chillers, one of them also got damaged beyond repairs on August 18, prompting the management to take temporarily shutting down the auditorium to avoid any backlash from the audience.
“But considering the request from the tiatr fraternity and on condition that in case the single chiller developed any technical problem during the tiatr due to entire workload they will bear the consequences and undertaking from the audience that they will bear the inconvenience, if any. The auditorium was again restarted,” he added.
