With an increase in Covid cases around Curchorem area and growing alarm among locals visiting the market, the Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) responded to demands of the Curchorem Market Traders Association (CMTA) and local Congress leaders and got the market area sanitised.

While the sanitation process was underway, the CMTA kept all their shops and other establishments closed for the day.

The sanitisation drive, which began early morning, was conducted with the help of the Curchorem fire station.

Speaking to reporters on completion of the sanitisation drive, the CCMC Chairperson Balkrishna Hodarkar thanked the CMTA for their assistance in the drive and for keeping their establishments closed for the day in the interest of public safety.

Local Congress leader Pushkal Sawant also thanked the CCMC for undertaking the sanitisation drive following a request by them to the council in the first week of September.

“There has been a sharp increase in Covid cases around Curchorem area and this had caused alarm among those visiting the market area,” said Sawant.
