Infact, Cansaulim panchayat has a history of being largely independent of the incumbent MLA right from the tenure of Mauvin Godinho, Matanhy Saldanha and the present MLA Alina Saldanha.
Infact, Martha’s panel romped home winning all the nine wards of the panchayat.
In neighboruing Velsao-Pale-Issorcim panchayat, Henrique D’Mello will continue to head the panchayat, while Silvia D’Souza and Brenda Teodiso will have two-and-half terms each.
In Quelossim panchayat, Maria Colaco is tipped to be the sarpanch, while Seby Serrao is likely to be her deputy. However, moves are also underway to make former Cortalim ZP member and sarpanch Cythia D’Silva as the sarpanch.
In Cortalim [anchayat, Senia Baretto is tipped to be the next sarpanch, while Raymond De Sa is likely to be her deputy.
However, in Quelossim as well as in Cortalim, moves are underway by the rival camps to have their nominees for the post of sarpanch and deputy sarpanch.
The elections of sarpanch and deputy sarpanch for Sancoale panchayat will be held on July 2 after the elections to Wards 5 and 6 are held on July 1.
