Matanhy Saldanha Memorial prog
CORTALIM: The third Matanhy Saldanha Memorial programme will be organised at the main hall, Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji, on October 24, at 5.30 pm.
The programme will feature a panel discussion on the theme: 'Has Goa exceeded its carrying capacity.' Ex-director of NIO, Dr S W A Naqvi will be the chief guest. Dr Oscar Rebello will speak on ‘Remembering Matanhy “ The Man & the Cause.’
The event will begin with a short cultural programme by Prince Jacob and his brother Humberto, followed by the panel discussion.
The participants in the panel discussion are MLA Nilesh Cabral, Dr Nandkumar Kamat, Dr Antonio Mascarenhas, Milind Ramani, Nitin Kuncolienkar, Blaise Costabir and Pamela D’Mello.
Pramod Acharya will be the moderator.
Two meritorious post-graduate students, one each, in the field of Political Science and Life Sciences will be presented awards.
Dr Dayanand Rao will anchor the programme, which is open for the general public.
The Matanhy Saldanha Memorial Foundation is set up in memory of the former Environment and Tourism Minister with the goal of imparting knowledge and awareness about the need to conserve and preserve the environment and the fragile ecology of Goa.
