According to Sada Sub Jail Superintendent Gaurish Shankwalkar, the fight broke out between Ryaz Ibrahim and a senior inmate over
the use of washroom at
about 7 am.
Shankwalkar said according to the officials of Sada sub-jail, Ibrahim and the senior inmate were involved in an argument over the use of washroom and the senior inmate allegedly assaulted Ibrahim on his head with a blunt object.
“As Ibrahim was to be taken to the court, the officials immediately referred him to Chicalim Cottage Hospital, where he received three stitches as there was a deep cut on his head due to the assault and was sent back to the jail,” informed
Shankwalkar.
Shankwalkar further informed that once at the court, Ibrahim complained to the judge that he was being harassed at Sada sub-jail and sought a transfer to Colvale jail, which the judge agreed and sent him to
Colvale jail.
When contacted, Sada sub-jail assistant Superintendent Banudas Pednekar informed that argument broke out between Ibrahim and seven other inmates and one of the inmate assaulted Ibrahim with a
hard object.
Mormugao Police said when they went to record Ibrahim’s statement at Colvale jail, Ibrahim stated that he does not wish to file a complaint.
