Candidates who had filed nominations for the Fatorda and Margao constituencies on Thursday now face prosecution for violating the Covid norms and Model Code of Conduct.
The Fatorda police has registered FIR against the Candidates after the Returning Officer for Margao and Fatorda constituencies Prasad Volvoikar lodged his complaint with the police.
Fatorda police station in charge PI Girendra Naik informed that the FIR has been lodged against all the candidates who had filed their papers for the two seats on Thursday.
The RO was seen repeatedly directing the police on Thursday to disperse the supporters of candidates from assembling outside his office. In fact, the RO was overheard telling the police to penalise the people.
Addl Collector Surendra Naik had to personally come down and request the candidates and their supporters to disperse from the entrance of the Collectorate building.
