The district hospital medico-legal surgeon has put in place a system to streamline the disposal of Covid bodies so as not to inconvenienCe relatives.
Medico-legal surgeon, Dr Madhu Ghodkirekar, said he had put in place a system wherein family members had to give an undertaking to the Deputy Collector before the body is released for the last rites.
“We have streamlined the system wherein the relatives can now
give the undertaking to the in-charge of the mortuary, that's me, and I will forward the same to the Deputy Collector,” he said.
The Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has also placed at the disposal of the in-charge of the mortuary a staffer to ensure that Covid bodies, including unidentified ones, do not pile up at the district hospital mortuary.
