MARGAO
Members of the Wanarmare tribe, hailing from Shiroda, had a reason to cheer. Perhaps for the first time, around 85 members of the tribe finally had their births registered under the new process, which has empowered Deputy Collectors to register late births and deaths.
Twenty-five members of the Wanarmare tribe received their birth certificates at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the South Goa District Collectorate during the ‘Good Governance Week’ on Monday.
While the 25 persons, including children, have received their birth certificates, the process of issuing birth certificates to the remaining persons is at an advanced stage.
Issuing birth certificates to the members of the Wanarmare tribe had been long pending, and officials of the District Administration cleared the process during the ‘Good Governance Week’, wherein daily and mega camps were organised in all seven talukas of South Goa district.
District Collector, Egna Cleetus, informed that during these camps, all 227 online complaints pending and received on CPGRAMS (Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System) and PGRS and CM Helpline (Public Grievance Redressal System) portals were disposed of, thus showing a 100 per cent disposal rate for South Goa district.
She further said that 928 complaints received during the camps were disposed of during the Good Governance Week, including mutation, conversion, and certificates such as residence, income, etc.
Additionally, the district administration disposed of all 568 pending claims received under Goa and Central Calamity Relief Schemes.
Chief Minister Sawant informed that the administration had handed over the sanction orders to all the beneficiaries, amounting to Rs 2.8 crore, under the disaster management plan for those whose houses were damaged during the monsoons.
