Mencurem govt school gets Arise Excellence Award

Sarveda Gaonkar, principal of the government high school at Mencurem, receiving the Arise Excellence Award 2025 in Delhi.

The government high school at Mencurem-Bicholim became the first school in the State to be presented with the Arise Excellence Award 2025, in recognition of its implementation of various initiatives under the Indian knowledge system.

The school principal, Sarveda Gaonkar, received the award from Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood.

This feat comes after the Mencurem school competed with 800 schools across India, showcasing its commitment to excellence and innovation in education.

The school was recognised for implementing various initiatives under the Indian Knowledge System, including Vedic education, incorporating traditional Vedic teachings into their curriculum; the Gurukul System, to emphasise personalised learning and mentorship; Indigenous Science, fostering exploration and understanding of India's scientific heritage; Traditional Art, to preserve and promote India's rich cultural art forms; the Medicinal Plant Garden, to cultivate medicinal plants and promote sustainable practices; and Cultural Heritage Preservation, to protect and showcase India's diverse cultural legacy.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant congratulated the principal, teachers, and students at his residence and praised them for their achievement. Director of Education Shailesh Zingde was also present to felicitate the team.
