The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Rohan Khaunte: I have delivered on promises made to Porvorkars and people have reposed their trust and faith in me.
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the Assembly?
RK: It will be always my priority to ensure that issues sensitive to Goans will find a voice in legislations.
TG: Which is that one leader outside your party that you admire as a politician, and why?
RK: Going beyond politics, I would say late Manohar Parrikar was close to my heart. But there are also senior politicians like Pratapsingh Rane and Digambar Kamat whom I admire for their non-vindictive politics.
TG: Who would be your chief ministerial choice, should your party come into power?
RK: It is the party high command comprising seniormost leaders of the party who decides on the chief ministers, depending upon the post-election scenario. So, making a comment now would be unethical.
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of people? Explain
RK: Political equations change as per needs of the time. Merger for the right cause is not bad. Whenever there is a merger, it is stated that the same is for development.
TG: Do you feel that the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win.
RK: BJP will get the absolute majority and hence the second and third positions don’t matter.
