Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Thursday alleged that government machinery is being misused to target the Opposition including MGP leaders in wake of the Zilla Panchayat elections.
Addressing a press conference MGP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sudin Dhavlikar said that Enforcement Directorate has sent a summon to MGP leader Jeet Arolkar and kept him in the office for hours which has affected his poll campaign.
Summoning and making a leader to wait in the office like this is a clear cut misuse of power.
These are pressure tactics that the ruling party is playing, said Dhavlikar.
He said that now the Ministers and MLA's from the ruling party are holding meets while the opposition leaders who try to hold meetings are being harassed by the officers citing Covid.
Dhavlikar said that the upcoming Zilla Panchayat election is semifinal to Assembly elections and the use of government machinery against political opponents by the BJP will backfire.
