MGP leaders met Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday evening, but sought to downplay the meeting as a “courtesy visit”.
MGP leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar along with MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar met Kejriwal for about 45 minutes.
Asked if their meeting included discussions of a possible coalition between the two parties for the upcoming assembly elections, Sudin replied in the negative.
“It was just a courtesy visit and no discussion about a coalition took place", said Sudin Dhavalikar told reporters.
“During our meeting, we discussed the good works by the AAP in Delhi and the good work by the MGP in Goa.”
Sudin said he had tried to meet Kejriwal trice in the last two months.
"When Kejriwal last visited Goa, I did not get the time to meet him. Once I went to Delhi but I did not get an opportunity to meet him. So, I decided to meet him on this occasion,” he said.
Focussing on similarities between the MGP and AAP, Sudin said Kejriwal has done a good job in Delhi, while the MGP had also done good work in Goa.
“He has been troubled by the BJP in Delhi in much the same the same way we are being troubled in Goa,” said Sudin.
