MARGAO
The Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) has announced launch of Covid care kits, oxygen cylinders and wheelchairs to the seafarers’ community especially to the needy person belonging to the community on Wednesday.
Saying that many seafarers had to suffer hardships during the Covid-19 pandemic, GSAI President Franky Viegas said the launch will take place at Goa Woodland Hotel, Margao at the hands of North Goa MP, Shripad Naik who has recently been handed the Central portfolio for Ministry of Shipping, Ports and Waterways in the presence of Fr Doel Dias.
Frank mentioned that the timely help from the Sailors Society UK and Seafarers International Relief fund was a great assistance to the seafarers’ community and prayed that the community will rise again since lately a lot of seafarers have started joining in a slow and steady manner.
He said the Covid kits will be a great source of assistance which can be used during their onward journey or at home and will help them to conduct self-tests by monitoring their temperature or oxygen level. Seafarers have to fill GSAI helping aid form which is available at GSAI office Madel Margao.
