MGP leaders and supporters protested against the rising fuel prices and electricity bills at the entrance of Mapusa Municipal market on Monday.
MGP Central Working Committee member Mahesh Satlekar said the prices of motor fuel and LPG cylinders had also been increased.
“At a time when people are struggling financially, the government has not spared electricity bills either. The government's promise of reduced bills if the digital meter and LED bulbs were installed have proved to be fake. We appeal to people to teach this government a lesson by supporting MGP in the upcoming elections," said Satlekar.
Senior party worker Eknath Mapsekar claimed that MGP gave a corruption-free government for 17 years and accused the BJP and Congress parties of ending MGP with their dirty politics.
"The Bahujan community and karyakartas are being crushed while MLAs keep getting richer," said Mapsekar.
Shripad Yende and Anil Kerkar also spoke at the protest.
