The Korgao Gram Sabha on Sunday passed a resolution criticising the statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Mhadei issue.
The meeting, chaired by Sarpanch Samil Bhatlekar, took place at Shree Kamleshwar hall in Deulwada and others attending the meeting included Deputy Sarpanch Kalpita Kalshavkar, panchas Devidas Nagvenkar, Abdul Naik, Trupti Narse, Anuradha Korganokar, Umesh Chari, Diwakar Jadhav, Laukik Shetye and Panchayat Secretary Shraddha Korgaonkar.
In their resolution, the residents stated that the stance taken by Shah has been in favour of Karnataka and is detrimental to Goa.
A resident Sudip Korgaonkar demanded that the decision by Karnataka regarding the Mhadei water be cancelled and the resolution was passed unanimously.
Residents also discussed several issues pertaining to the village.
Sudip Korgaonkar highlighted the need for a new power transformer and suggested painting the speed breakers to make them visible to motorists.
Pandhari Arolkar proposed the availability of wood in the Bhaiwada crematorium, while another resident demanded hotmixing of roads in Korgao.
Vyankatesh Ghodge sought information on the works taken up by the panchayat and demanded to know about the status of roads, water and electricity.
“The roads are dug up every time and people have to face dust pollution. The panchayat should have some control over this road digging work,” said Ghodge.
In reply, Sarpanch Samil Bhatlekar said the panchayat has not yet received any funds for the works to be taken up by the panchayat.
The meeting also discussed mega projects in Korgao and it was decided that the village should first be self-sufficient in water and electricity, before allowing permissions to mega projects to come up.
A decision was taken to fill a deep trench near the compound of the crematorium. It was also decided to inquire regarding 12 houses built under the 20-point programme and land allotment in Korgal area.
Under the programme, 12 houses were built and allotted to 12 persons, but some of them are alleged to have sold these houses.
