The new rates will come into effect from March 12 and farmers are expected to benefit from this hike.
With the hike, full cream milk (high fat buffalo milk with 6.0% FAT and 9.0% SNF) will be priced at Rs 55, while it will be Rs 46 for pasteurized STD milk (4.5% FAT and 8.5% SNF), Rs 42 for cow milk (3.5% FAT and 8.5% SNF) and Rs 40 for toned milk (3.0% FAT and 8.5 % SNF).
It may be recalled that on September 1, 2016, Goa Dairy had revised rates of toned milk and cow milk by Rs 4, while standard milk and full cream milk were hiked by Rs 3 per litre.
Goa Dairy Managing Director Dr Navasu Sawant told The Goan that the Board of Directors have given their nod to hike the rates during the meeting on Friday.
“We had no option but to hike the price, as procurement rates have gone up. But we assure the best quality of milk. We believe in quality and will never compromise on it,” Sawant added.
FDA inspects

PONDA: A team from the Food and Drugs Administration on Friday inspected milk products of Goa Dairy at Curti. Speaking to The Goan, FDA Director Salim Velji said it was a routine inspection and added that his team would prepare a report on samples collected. “It was a routine inspection and not a raid,” clarified Velji, while dismissing reports that the FDA had raided Goa Dairy. “How can it be a raid? We do it routinely,” Velji added. Goa Dairy Managing Director Dr Navasu Sawant also confirmed that the FDA team was on a routine inspection to the milk plant.
