Mining affected, officials meet
BICHOLIM: Sakhali MLA Dr Pramod Sawant convened a special meeting of mining affected villagers from Sakhali constituency at Ravindra Bhavan Sakhali.
The motive behind the meeting was to know the problems faced by the people in the mining zone after mining activities resumed. The meeting was attended by Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar, Bicholim Mamlatdar Madhu Naik, Navelim Sarpanch Adv Deepesh Gawas, Surla Sarpanch Bhola Khodginkar, Velguem Sarpanch Sarvesh Mulgaonkar, Kudnem Panchas Sudesh Kamat and Rajan Falkar and other panchas Mangaldas Usagaonkar, Pradeep Gawade and Karuna Mahale and representatives of mining company.
The discussion was focused on dust pollution, traffic problems, accident-prone roads, deploying of a policemen for traffic management.
Dr Sawant informed that he had talks with mining companies to construct an independent road for transportation of mining ore.
