A minor girl was found to be pregnant after she was sexually assaulted by two youth, while another minor girl has been reportedly kidnapped in two separate incidents in Ponda taluka recently.
In the first incident, Mardol Police said a 16-year-old girl had visited a government hospital on Thursday after feeling uneasy.
The doctors who checked her found that she was seven weeks pregnant and reported the matter to the Mardol Police.
A police team along with an NGO representative recorded the statement of the girl.
The girl stated that the incident had occurred while she was returning home from Zatra, when two youth on a bike put a cloth on her mouth which left her unconscious.
When she got back her senses, she reached home. She suspects that she must have been raped by the two unknown persons.
The girl is being treated at the hospital and police have registered an offence against unknown suspects.
In another incident, a 17-year-old girl has been reported to be kidnapped and acting on a complaint by the parents, Ponda Police have registered an offence in the matter.
