Femina Miss India World Sadhvi Sail received a rousing welcome on her arrival in Goa on Thursday, with celebrations marking a proud moment for the State.
She was received at the Goa International Airport, Dabolim, by Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, her father and Karwar MLA Satish Sail, along with family members, supporters, and well-wishers.
A large number of people, including children and youth, gathered outside the airport to greet the beauty queen, who later visited the Damodar and Sai Baba temples in Vasco to offer prayers. A celebratory procession was also taken out in her honour, displaying the pride and excitement among locals.
Speaking to reporters, Sail expressed immense joy at representing Goa on a national and global platform.
“I feel ecstatic to put the country’s smallest but most loved state of Goa on the pageantry map. I cannot describe the immense pride I feel when I wear ‘India’ across me,” she said.
She added that the overwhelming reception deeply moved her.
“Being welcomed with so much love, seeing children waiting for me, and knowing I can inspire them ” it is truly a dream come true. There is nothing more I could ask for. I only seek blessings and continued support as I prepare for the Miss World pageant,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey, Sail spoke about the challenges she faced, particularly the need for self-belief.
“The biggest challenge was believing in myself. I would say surround yourself with friends and family who support your dreams. It is never a one-person journey. I have been fortunate to have strong backing, and even our leaders are encouraging youth to aim high in different fields. This victory belongs to everyone who has been part of my journey,” she said.
Looking ahead, Sail said she is open to what lies ahead.
“I am ready for whatever plans the universe has for me. I never imagined 18 months ago that I would be here today. If you do good, it comes back to you. I want to touch as many lives as I can, and I believe opportunities will follow,” she stated.
Recalling her experience during the competition, she admitted to initial nervousness but said she focused on staying present.
“Coming from a small place, I felt privileged to even be on that stage. I told myself to enjoy the moment and do justice to myself. Even reaching the top eight felt like a big achievement. Whatever followed was God’s blessing,” she said.
Sail’s homecoming has sparked a sense of pride across Goa, with many seeing her achievement as a milestone moment for the state on the global pageantry stage.
