Missing youth found dead, murder suspected
VASCO: The highly decomposed body of a 21-year-old youth from Chaferan Merces, Vaddem, Vasco, who went missing on December 23, was found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances at Santrem-Bogmalo.
According to Vasco Police, after they received a call on February 2 at about 7.30 pm stating that a corpse of a male person was hanging from a tree at Santrem, the police rushed to the site and recovered the body in a highly decomposed state and sent it for autopsy to GMC. The police said the deceased was identified as Vinayak Mahale of Chaferan Merces, Vaddem, Vasco.
The police added that the autopsy was done on February 5, and the cause of death was Asphyxia (contradiction of neck).
The police stated that they are suspecting it as a case of murder as the wallet of the deceased was found about 3 metres away from the crime scene and they have also recovered a liquor bottle and two plastic glasses.
Police informed that Mahale went missing on December 23 and the family filed a missing complaint at Vasco Police station on December 27.
The police added that they have initially registered a case of unnatural death and is investigating the case.
