The missing youth, Bashudev Bhandari, who was feared drowned, was yet to be traced even as efforts were underway by the coastal police in the Cumbarjua canal to find his body.
Bhandari was in the ill-fated rent-a-car along with a girl when the car plunged in the canal at Tolto ferry point at St Estevam in the wee hours of Sunday.
Though the girl swam to safety, Bhandari could not make it to shore even though he was able to come out of the car.
Since then, efforts have been made by the coastal police to find the body but without any success.
However, news about an unknown body being found at Betim surfaced with the possibility being expressed that it could be that of Bhandari.
But the Old Goa police said the identity of the unknown body was yet to be established.
The police also informed that they have not been able to come across any CCTV footage which could confirm that the rent-a-car was being chased by any other car.
Meanwhile, the father of Bashudev Bhandari, who is down in Goa, was taken by the Old Goa police to the site where the incident had occurred.
