Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa mission on October 2, 2020 with a sole aim to achieve the decisive goal of making Goa self-reliant in all sectors of human endeavour, according to a Department of Information and Publicity press release.
In a bid to make Goa Swayampurna, the State Government appointed 191 government officers as Swayampura Mitras for as many Village Panchayats and 12 nodal officers at taluka level, under Swayampurna Goa Mission. These Swayampurna Mitras were entrusted to shoulder the responsibilities and work to achieve the goals to make Goa Swayampurna. October 2 will mark the first anniversary of Swayampurna Goa Project and people of the State can boast of achievements under it.
Sawant himself personally conducted various meetings, workshops with all the designated officers as 'Swayampurna Mitras' to motivate and guide them, says the DIP press release.
Isha Sawant, Swayampurna Mitra for Assonora Panchayat being one among them - her major achievements being distributing sewing machines donated by Rotary club of Mapusa to 21 womens; 38 women were trained as ' AapdaSakhi' in disaster management like basic fire safety/ kitchen safety, flash floods, heat wave, thunderstorms, lightening, hailstorm etc; organizing camp for the Divyang and 58 people were provided assistance and equipments with collaboration of social welfare department and providing special treatment for Nikita, a teenage girl at Tata hospital Mumbai with the help of Rotary Club.
Shankar Goankar, Swayampurna Mitra for Kirlapal Dabal Panchayat has completed projects like community hall project under Adivasi Vikas Yojana of Tribal welfare Department, solved Canal water issues, started eco-tourism project - four Youths from Rumbrem and Bandoli have taken property on lease to start a concept of Tribal Village life.
Paresh Fal Dessai, Swayampurna Mitra for Morpirla Quepem Panchayat took the initiative and provided training in computers under the short term professional training scheme of tribal Welfare for 72 students of tribal Community, six months Diploma Course in Computer Education training was undertaken in association with GYAN Computers in Morpirla and fully financed by Goa State, ST and OBC Corporation, Panaji.
