MARGAO
With no stop to mixed waste from the neighbouring village finding its way at the ring road, Aquem, near the Rawanfond bridge, the Margao Municipal Council has lodged a complaint with the Margao police, with a plea to register a FIR against the occupants of a housing project at Davorlim village.
The complaint lodged by MMC Chief Officer Ajit Panchwadkar has also requested the police to register a FIR against the village panchayat of Davorlim in respect of the village dumping of mixed waste along the ring road.
In the complaint, the Chief Officer pointed out that some occupants of a housing project at Davorlim have been illegally dumping mixed waste along the ring road, below the Rawanfond bridge.
The complaint stated that the activity of dumping of waste is causing nuisance and a health hazard for the public and has become a tedious job for the Margao Municipal Council to segregate and dispose off the mixed waste.
“It is understood that the waste is being brought from the housing project at Davorlim, neighbouring Margao. The same has been verified from the address of packets found disposed in the waste during the process of segregation of such mixed waste’, the complaint added.
As reported earlier, the Ring Road has turned out a major black spot in the jurisdiction of MMC with tonnes of mixed waste from the villages finding its waste at the spot.
