MARGAO
Margao Municipal Chief Officer Ajit Panchwadkar has said that he tried to do justice to his job during his ten-month stint at the MMC, by streamlining the administration in the interest of Madgavkars and Fatordekars and to address the garbage issue.
Saying that he has no comments to offer on MMC Chairperson Pooja Naik’s statement welcoming his transfer, Panchwadkar said he has completed 10 months at the Margao Municipality when the records shows that Officers were being shunted out in just a matter of months.
“I tried to do justice to Madgavkars and Fatordekars during my 10-month stint in office. I enjoyed good relations with the councillors as well as the employees. There may be a handful of employees who had a grievance or two when I embarked on the drive to streamline the administration," he said.
Panchwadkar said he tried to put the Sonsodo issue in place since the time the site was handed back to the civic body. “I had no issues with anyone. But, one should keep in mind that Chief Officers at the MMC were transferred within months. Many a Chief Officer had to face gheraos during their tenure. Even an IAS officer posted at the MMC had to face these vested interests. At least, I completed 10 months in office," he added.
