Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa has backed the electricity department amid growing public concern over power cuts and infrastructure-related issues in the Quepem constituency.
Addressing residents and local stakeholders, D’Costa appealed to the public to cooperate with electricity department staff, saying officials are working under pressure to resolve various power-related issues affecting consumers.
He said the department has been making continuous efforts to improve electricity services and ensure a better power supply across the constituency.
D’Costa said genuine complaints raised by residents would be addressed through proper coordination with the concerned authorities.
“The electricity department is working tirelessly to serve the people of Quepem. Let us all support them in their efforts to ensure better power supply and services,” D’Costa said.
The MLA also said he has been personally monitoring several pending development works in the constituency.
Referring to the long-pending construction of the new Quepem Police Station building, D’Costa said he has been regularly following up the matter with the government. However, he alleged that the file related to the project has been held up by the government for unknown reasons.
D’Costa said he had also raised the issue during the Assembly session, but there has been no progress so far.
He assured the public that he would continue pursuing the matter during the remaining eight months of the current Assembly term to ensure completion of the police station project.
